I've always enjoyed photography, but my old 35mm film camera became costly to use due to the number of unusable shots. We now have Digital SLR camera, which allowed me to take countless photos without worrying about the expense.
Before rediscovering photography, I was an avid target shooter, competing in rifle ranges in Jersey. An operation on my left arm ended my shooting career, but I found that the steady breathing techniques I developed for target shooting translated well to photography. This was useful for sharpening the details in my pictures. I have found there are a lot of similarities between rifle shooting and photography.
I was born and raised in Jersey growing up on a farm. As a child, I was diagnosed with a renal function issue, which led to a life of health difficulties, leaving myself now unable to work. However, volunteering at Jersey Heritage sites has given me a sense of purpose and allowed me to meet new people. This experience sparked my interest in local history, which I enjoy capturing through photography. I'm still learning and consider myself a fledgling photographer, driven to improve my composition and technique by sharing my photos on this website.
